Gamebirds

Gamebirds around the world have made bird hunting a popular sport. Birds such as Mallards, Wild Turkey, Quail, and Chukar often have seasons designated for hunting seasons deeming them gamebirds. Coturnix Quail (AKA Japanese Quail) in the USA don't have a season but since they are used in dog training I have included them here.

Many of these hunted birds are mounted for display.  The Ring-neck pheasant and their striking colors have made the common Ring-neck the most hunted gamebird in the United States. Gamebirds also are often raised for exhibition and as pets. In the culinary world they are reveared as delicacy. Many breeders even work with conservation groups to replinsh wild populations.
